Infosecurity Program Committee held the
Round Table Infosecurity: for business or as a business?
On March 31, 2008, the MoscowPresident Hotel housed
the Round Table Infosecurity: for business or as a business? with
the participation of the Infosecurity Russia 2008 Program Committeeand
heads and experts of leading Russian and foreign information security
companies.
Before the active work starts on preparing the Infosecurity Russia
exhibition-conference business program, it has become a tradition already
to arrangemeetings of Program Committee members with the leading infosecurity
serviceexperts of companies and organizations working in Russia.
The goal of the Round Table was to studyinterests and proposals of customers,
users and designers of infosecuritysystems, identify their preferences,
nagging problems of the industry and, basing on the data obtained, to form
an interesting exhibition-conference Infosecurity Russia 2008 ultimately
useful for its visitors.
Chairman of the Program Committee M.U.Emelyannikov of NIP InformZaschita,
outlined the main issues to be discussed and shared plans regarding the
Infosecurity Russia 2008 conference program: "Every day
we can see activities at the infosecuritymarket. It is important for the
Infosecurity Russia to have its own face andfind its own niche among them…
This year, we want to diversify the businesspart of Infosecurity Russia.
We hope as well that this year we are going tohave an event new in its
nature, a kind of Infosecurity show first ever seen inRussia!"
Mr. Emelyannikov also told about the VIP clubfor usersof information security
systems within the InfosecurityRussia 2008 exhibition-conference:
"VIPclub is a site for informal contact free of pressure from
manufacturers, vendors, moderators. We can arrange business meetings,
communicate with eachother, share new things…"
The governmental security control issueregarding confidential information
aroused increased interest of both designersand users. While discussing
topics of personal data processing security, changes in the trade secret
legislation, cryptographic information protection, the participants agreed
that the principal issue arousing controversies in theindustry remained
the governmental control of confidential information relations. The market
participants approved creating a standardization committee No.26 Cryptographic
information protection. Thosewho attended the Round Table expressed
hope for positive changes and good results.
Deputy Head of Department of the Ministry of InformationTechnologies and
Communications A.P.Germogenov informed that "…Classificationprocedures
for personal data processing systems have already been approved. Thistriple
order signed by FSTEK, Russian Federal Security Service and the Ministry
of Information Technologies and Communications is now undergoing registration
in the Ministry of Justice andwill be published at the official websites…
Due to this, there are no more apparentobstacles for the personal data
law to have its effect."
The issue of SMB information protection hadgreat response. Expert opinions
divided onto the opposite: from the one hand,an opinion was expressed
that the market in the segment had not been shaped yetsince for the moment
there were no appropriate governmental documentsregulating information
security issues in small and medium-scale business; fromthe other hand,
an opinion was given that the medium-scale business share atthe information
security market was around 80% while related companies purchasedinformation
protection means in the most active way.
Special interest of suppliers and users wasaroused by the issue of controlling
web-relations connected to commercialactivities, management, and applied
use.
An information security express-analysis ofthe market is planned to be
carried out, since the consumers will be interestedin finding out whether
they are offered something utterly new or it is just anold "remake".
The results obtained are planned to be discussed within theframework of
the conference Infosecurity Russia2008.
The event was "flavored" by a brain-ring:experts put nagging
questions to the well-known suppliers of information securityproducts
and services. The team of experts was represented by D.D.Ustiuzhaninof
VympelKom OAO, M.B.Levashov of Soyuzny KB, Yu.N.Lysenko
